Admission Requirements and Procedures for Drones
Drones are remotely controlled through transmission frequencies. Drones are therefore categorized under the heading radio electric transmission and receiving equipment.
To ensure efficient use of transmission frequencies for drones, authorization from RAC, within the existing legal frameworks, is required to, among others, import, hold/own and use drones.
Depending on the type of drone this authorization is granted through an authorization or a so- called Declaration of Admission. Either document needs to be in your possession when importing a drone.
Admission requirements
Most drones in Curaçao are exempted from an authorization, in which case only a Declaration of Admission is required to import one.
To issue a Declaration of Admission RAC verifies the conformity of the drone based on the established technical requirements for the use of the drone in the airwave traffic in Curaçao.
If you wish to submit a request for a Declaration of Admission for your drone an application form must be submitted to RAC. The application form is a fillable PDF. Fill out the PDF with your information, ensuring that all data is entered digitally (typed, not (hand)written). After completing the form, save the PDF and send it to rac-import-equipment@rac.cw. Download the form below.
Application form Declaration of Admission DronesIf you prefer, RAC can also send you an application form for a Declaration of Admission via email. Contact RAC on rac-import-equipment@rac.cw or call +599 9 461 1700.
Should the information in your application for a Declaration of Admission show that your drone requires an Authorization after all, RAC will contact you to make the required documents available to you for an Application for an Authorization.
Drone registration at Curaçao Civil Aviation Authority
When the owner of a drone has a Declaration of Admission or an Authorization in his possession, this only primarily concerns the permitted frequency in which the drone is allowed to be operated. The permission does not yet include permission for flight operation with your drone.
For permission for flight operation contact the Curaçao Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA) where your drone must also be registered.
To register your drone at CCAA and for further information about the procedures that CCAA follows regarding flight operation with drones contact:
