Health Care

The Curaçao Health Care Authority (CZa) is an operational unit of the Regulatory Authority of Curaçao. The duties and tasks of the CZa are laid down in the “Landsverordening Marktordening Gezondheidszorg”.

The health care authority is responsible for:

  • market surveillance, market development and tariff and performance regulation, in the field of health care;
  • supervision of the lawful and efficient implementation by the health insurers of that which is regulated by or pursuant to the National Ordinance on Basic Health Insurance;
  • supervision of the lawful and effective implementation by the health insurers of that which is regulated by or pursuant to the National Ordinance General Insurance for Special Medical Expenses;
  • supervision of the lawful and efficient implementation by health care providers and health care insurers of that which is regulated by or pursuant to this national ordinance;
  • monitoring the management costs of the implementing organization as defined National Ordinance on Basic Health Insurance;
  • other tasks assigned by Ministerial Regulation.
