Microwave communication systems

Microwave communication is the transmission of signals through electro magnetic radio waves by means of one or more targeted microwave dishes. A precondition for optimal microwave communication is that there are as few constraining factors as possible in the data transmission between the transmitter and receiver equipment. Microwave connections are essentially based on the line-of-sight principle.

The receivers of microwave signals are usually installed at or on top of commercial buildings in the vicinity of private residences, preferably at a transmitter location on top of a mountain or hill.

Microwave signals can easily be transmitted and received via a satellite dish. Contrary to radio signals, microwave signals can be combined and transmitted directly to the location of the receiver. The higher the antenna, the further the range of the signal. However, a microwave signal with an optimal and a reliable range does not stretch further than the limits of the visible horizon.
