Workshop network continuity concession holders Telecommunications sector

During the second week of September 2014 Bureau Telecommunicatie & Post organized an information day for the concession holders of telecommunication. The theme was Network Continuity. The purpose of the information day was to emphasize the importance of redundancy in telecommunication networks and attending to various other key aspects that are involved in maintaining the provided services in case of a disruption or an emergency.

On this information day concession holders could attend three workshops in which the attention points in the framework of network continuity were addressed.

Workshop 1: the payment of the monthly frequency and concession fees and the consequences for the continuity of the service provision in case payment is not forthcoming or is delayed.

Workshop 2: redundancy in telecommunication networks.

Workshop 3:

  • The development of mobile broadband worldwide
  • The allocation of LTE frequency bands
  • Migrations in frequency bands (In-band migration)
  • New mobile bands
  • Band planning
  • LYE standards
  • Attention points LTE-Advanced
  • New functionality in 3GGP edition 10, 11 and 12 (Carrier Aggregation, Voice over LTE, CoMP, small cell)

The information day was well attended and the topics of the workshops stimulated interaction between the parties present which resulted in mutual sharing of experiences. The information day was a success across the board and the BT&P was able to gain insight in the current state of affairs at providers of telecommunication services.
