Feed-in tariffs for sustainably generated electricity 2026

As of November 16th 2011, private individuals and companies in Curaçao are allowed to generate sustainable electricity for their own use in combination with a grid connection. Currently feed-in tariffs consist of a compensation of Cg 0.25 per kWh of electricity fed into the grid, combined with a fixed fee of Cg 8.00, Cg 16.00, or Cg 24.00 per installed kWp per month.

The growth of the PV market over the recent years was upheld in 2025. Despite a lower average fuel clause, generating one’s own sustainable energy remains attractive. The payback periods for end users with their own sustainable electricity production for self-consumption are still significantly shorter than the internationally known payback period of 7–10 years.

Based on the annual evaluation which is in accordance with the Tariff guidelines for small scale renewable electricity generation, the Government of Curaçao has decided to maintain the above-mentioned tariffs. The fixed monthly fee which is charged to cover the costs for the use and availability of the network, the network connection and generation capacity will remain unchanged. The feed-in tariff will also be maintained at Cg 0.25 per kWh, as this is reasonably in line with the costs of other renewable energy sources.

By maintaining the current tariffs for renewable electricity generation as per January 1st 2026, as shown in the overview below, it is ensured that households and businesses can continue to realize a reasonable pay-back period. At the same time, this keeps the procurement costs for the utility company in line with the fuel clause and with the procurement costs of sustainably generated energy from third parties as part of the end-user tariffs for electricity.
