RAC Celebrates 25 Years of Fair Regulation and a Thriving Future – Lays First Stone for Office Expansion

Willemstad, Curaçao – 25 januari 2026 – The Regulatory Authority of Curaçao (RAC) is celebrating 25 years of objective and efficient regulation across various sectors. This 25th anniversary marks an important milestone where reflection, accountability, and ambition come together, with a strong focus on fair regulation and the protection of consumer interests.

RAC celebrates a quarter century of dedication to justice, innovation, and sustainability, under the central theme “Fair Regulation, a Thriving Future.” At the same time, RAC is laying a solid foundation to continue building growth, quality, and trust in the years ahead. Throughout the anniversary year, RAC will organize several events and campaigns in collaboration with employees, partners, and the Curaçao community to commemorate and celebrate this achievement.

The jubilee year was officially opened with the launch of a specially designed anniversary logo. This logo was presented during a gathering where the contributions of RAC employees to the organization’s achievements over the past 25 years were honored. The occasion also marked a symbolic moment of growth for RAC: the first stone was laid for the expansion of the RAC office, creating additional space for the professionals who work daily to fulfill RAC’s mission.

In his inspiring speech, Curt Belfor, CEO of the Regulatory Authority of Curaçao, stated:

“Twenty-five years of independent regulation is, above all, a story of trust. Trust built on consistency, integrity, and decision-making in the public interest, even when those decisions are complex and challenging. Every recommendation and every decision of RAC must ultimately contribute to a prosperous Curaçao.”

Creating Digital Trust

As part of the anniversary year, RAC is launching several awareness campaigns focused on the risks associated with social media use, privacy, and digital vulnerability. A special campaign on Artificial Intelligence (AI) will highlight opportunities, risks, and the importance of good governance. Through this, RAC reinforces its role as coordinator of the trajectory toward a national AI strategy for Curaçao.

Culture, Sports, and National Pride

RAC is sponsoring Curaçao’s largest cultural festival, the Festival di Tumba, thereby strengthening the connection between a strong institution and the island’s cultural identity. During the festival, a campaign will also be launched promoting conscious and responsible sharing of content on social media.

In addition, RAC supports national pride through initiatives related to the participation of the Curaçao national football team in the World Cup.

Collaboration with Partners

Later this year, RAC will host a high-level seminar bringing together its key partners, including the government and providers of services and products under RAC supervision. International perspectives will also be included in the program. The seminar aims to stimulate knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and thought leadership across the various sectors.
